Prelude

Before They Start

Ten minutes on whether this position is ready for the person you're about to hire.

You're about to hire a salesperson, or a sales manager. Whether they succeed in their first ninety days depends on three things, and only one of them is the candidate. The other two are you and the environment they walk into: the onboarding plan, the coaching, how they'll find customers, and how much of your week they'll really get.

This is eight plain questions, asked one at a time, the way a peer would ask them. At the end you get a written summary in your own words: what's in place, what isn't, and three things to do before the start date. No score.

About ten minutes. You can pause and come back as long as you keep this tab open.
